EUROPA LEAGUE THURSDAY: We preview Thursday’s games between MAN U v ROSTOV and ROMA v LYON with a recommended BETDAQ bet in both.
MANCHESTER UNITED V ROSTOV
8.05pm Manchester United will be pleased to welcome back their key man Zlatan Ibrahimvoic for this one, and they’re in need of a win having gone three games without one. One of those games included a 1-1 away to Rostov in the first leg here, however on a less than ideal playing surface, United would have been pretty happy to come back to Old Trafford with that result. It would have been bitterly disappointing for them not to score in the second half against a ten man Bournemouth side in their most recent home game, and United layers at 1.29 will be hoping for similar frustration!
The reality is though that United should breeze past this Rostov side with home advantage. They’ve had a superb record at home in Europe recently – they’re actually unbeaten since 2013 – so anything other than a United win would be a shock. To add to that, United are unbeaten in all competitions at home since September – however obviously not scoring at key times has cost them points in the Premier League. They’ve had no such problems in the Europa League though and we’re going to take a chance and back Any Other Home Win (United to score 4 or more and win) at 5.0.

ROMA V LYON
8.05pm Lyon have been in absolutely superb form lately, and they come into this second leg with a 4-2 advantage. Roma are currently trading 1.78, however they will have their work cut out to stop Lyon from scoring. Lyon have scored a whopping 25 goals in their last six games in all competitions, and more impressively they’ve netted four times or more in five of those last six! We can’t see Roma stopping them for scoring here, especially as they have conceded in five of their last six most recent games – that clean sheet coming in their last game.
There’s sure to be goals in this one, however the markets have that factored in already with over 2.5 trading as short as 1.4! We don’t see any value in the goals markets, however with Lyon’s scoring power, we really feel that Roma shouldn’t be as short at 1.78 in the match odds market. With what should be another highly entertaining game, the 1.78 has to be laid.
