FA CUP: We preview Monday’s FA Cup Third Round game between BRIGHTON v CRYSTAL PALACE.
BRIGHTON V CRYSTAL PALACE
7.45pm It’s been a hectic weekend in the FA Cup and we end it on Monday night as Crystal Palace travel to take on Brighton. These sides clashed in the Premier League only six weeks ago here and we didn’t see any goals. The draw has been a regular result for Brighton here – in their last eight games here, they’ve had six draws! Palace have had plenty of draws lately too, and if you fancy the draw again tonight that’s trading an appealing 3.3, while Brighton are 2.76 and Crystal Palace are 2.94.
Given that Palace achieved the feat of stopping Manchester City from winning recently, laying Brighton at 2.76 is certainly a big option. Especially as they have struggled to win games at home this season – you could in fact make the case that Palace should be the favourites given their recent form. We expect this to be a very close affair, and there may be not be many goal chances.
It will be interesting to see if there are many decisions for the referee – for the first time in English football Video Assistant Referees (VAR) will be used in this match. This will see two officials in front of screens at the Premier League Match Centre in west London to monitor the action and a screen will be deployed at the side of the pitch for the on-field referee Neil Swarbrick to review incidents.
Under 2.5 goals is trading 1.61 at the moment though, which is a shade short for backing. Five of Brighton’s last six games have seen under 2.5 goals collect, however Palace have seen more goals in their recent games – if the price drifted slightly prior to kick off, it could become a backable price. Our best bet is the draw at 3.3 though, many factors point to a draw here and it simply looks too big at 3.3.
