GAVIN CROMWELL: An exciting few days for Brand Ambassador Gavin Cromwell with six runners to preview, including two of the yard’s top horses.

It’s a massive weekend for us with two of a our stable stars, Darver Star and Letsbeclearabouit, both running.

Saturday

Obviously Darver Star has a bit more on his plate this time in the Grade 2 novice chase (12:15pm). We’re up against a good horse of Gordon’s [Elliot] and there are plenty of other nice types in there, but I still think Darver’s the one to beat.

He came out of his first start perfectly and we’re delighted with how he is at the moment. You’ve got it take things race by race but we’ve got a loose plan working back from the Arkle that could include the Racing Post Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Spades Are Trumps lines up in the Grade B handicap chase (12:50). He hasn’t won a race since 2018 but he showed a return to form when second at Wexford the last day. Fingers crossed he’ll come on for that and runs another big race, but realistically we’re looking at the places as we’re 3lb out of the handicap.

It’s then on to Yafordadoe who goes back over jumps in the novice hurdle (2:00). He’s been running well on the Flat without getting his head in front and looks to have a big chance on his return to hurdles. He gets through testing ground well and we’re hoping he goes close.

Mountain Hawk runs in the handicap hurdle (3:10) having run over fences last time out. He’s also stepping back up to three miles which will play to his strengths. He still needs to show a bit more to win a race like this, and may need a little more help from the handicapper, but we’ll find out tomorrow.

We’re really looking forward to Letsbeclearaboutit in the bumper (3:45). He won well around Tipperary and we think a lot of him. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves but he’s done everything we’ve asked of him so far very nicely and looks to have bright future. Winning under a penalty won’t be easy but I’d like to think he’s good enough to follow up.

Sunday

Just the one on Sunday with Oscar Academy in the Handicap Chase (12:05). He’s been a little bit disappointing over fences since running okay in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last season.

Both ground conditions and the 2m6f trip look set to suit here, so hopefully he can return to form.
