GAVIN CROMWELL: Weekend blog previewing his runners at Perth and Tramore.

Saturday – Perth

Dakota Beat travels over to run in the handicap hurdle (4.25pm), after finally ditching his maiden tag when winning at Perth the last day. Despite being a longstanding maiden, he did win that race well, however, my only concern would be that I’m not sure how good of a race it was and he is on a higher mark in the UK than he is in Ireland. Hopefully he can run well, though, at a track he knows well and the small field should play to his advantage.

Top Of The Charts runs in the handicap chase (4.55pm) and is a horse that was much better a couple of years ago. He has won at Perth before in a 3m novice chase but that was back in 2019 and we thought this looked a nicer opportunity for him after having struggled in Ireland a little bit recently. We’re hoping that he can pick up some prize money on his trip over as well.

Tramore

White Pepper is a longstanding maiden and she runs in the 1m4f fillies Maiden (4.45pm) at Tramore, providing the rain comes. She’s in good form and we’re looking forward to hopefully running her but we will need the rain to come.

April’s Joy runs in the 1m4f handicap (6.25pm) after getting a good fourth at Fairyhouse the last day where things didn’t go perfectly for her. I think she’s well handicapped and has won over hurdles this season, but we’d be expecting her to win on the flat at some stage this season, so hopefully that’s at Tramore.

Greenpanda was impressive off her layoff at Sligo and comes here to compete in the 1m4f handicap (6.55pm). She’s been well since that run and we do hope she can run here because you can tell she wants to but, much like White Pepper, it will all depend on whether enough rain arrives.

Sunday – Tramore

Dazzling Darren won at the Galway Festival on the flat and this time goes back over hurdles in the 2m handicap hurdle (2.15pm). He’s run over the obstacles before and on the flat he’s beaten better horses than you’d expect off his rating, so we expect him to be there or there abouts. We’d be disappointed if he wasn’t in the first three or four. He’s probably our best chance of the weekend.

Dundalk
Built For This runs in the 1m handicap (2.05pm) but he was a little bit disappointing the last day and will have to show us a bit more to be involved in this.
