No FA Cup disrespect
To be honest, no. He is doing what he has to do to get Liverpool winning a title again and that’s the most important thing to the fans and everybody at the club. They have been waiting 30 years.
He is still putting out sides fully capable of beating what’s in front of them and things could very easily change. With such a big gap in the league now I still think he will be trying to win the cup.
Liverpool are great at what they do
They are clearly the best in terms of winning games and getting the job done. They aren’t demolishing teams but you feel like they could very easily if they wanted to.
They seem to get a goal or two and then choke the opposition and strangle the life out of them before conserving energy and then attacking again if they need to.
They are a great side and a thoroughly professional one who can look a serious threat on every attack but also do the dirty work.
Bridging the gap won’t be easy
They will certainly take some stopping and the tendency will be there for other teams to go out and just splash the cash. But we have seen with Manchester United that it’s about more than the chequebook.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all have a lot of catching up to do but it’s about getting the right people in, both players and behind the scenes. That’s what Liverpool have done so well.
West Ham good enough to stay up
No Premier League side is too good to go down. It’s very easy to spiral out of control but I do think West Ham have enough to stay up. There are certainly worse teams in and around the drop.
It’s not about spending loads of money panic buying players for the sake of it and then hoping for an immediate reaction from both the new signings and the current squad.
The players just need to remember how enjoyable that first win under David Moyes was against Bournemouth and rediscover that bit of fight because it has been lacking in recent weeks.
If they can put a performance like that together against Brighton that will give them a boost.
