The full field of 40 horses have been declared for Saturday’s Aintree Grand National with just one withdrawal coming at today’s final declaration stage as Lost Glory was taken out of the race, giving Swing Bill, owned by the sponsors of the race, Crabbies, a chance at glory.

As a result, all the market leaders have stood with long time favourite for the race, Teaforthree, as expected to be ridden by Nick Sholfield. Rebecca Curtis’s gelding finished third in the race 12 months ago and has to carry 10-12 in the big race.

Teaforthree will be a very popular winner with BETDAQ punters, as all bets up to €/£10 will be refunded if he wins. Having been eighth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Teaforthree is the standout pick for the race in many quarters and should have a huge chance of winning.

tidalbayTop weight, and the oldest horse in the race, Tidal Bay (pictured) will be the mount of Sam Twiston-Davies in the race worth £1m.

There were not many jockey changes for the big race apart from runners from the David Pipe stable. With the late addition of Swing Bill into the field, Conor O’Farrell was switched to ride him with Denis O’Regan moving onto Our Father. Tom Scudamore, as expected, will ride The Package.

Jonjo O’Neill’s deputy stable jockey, Richie McLernon picks up the ride on Sterling Magnet while Paddy Brennan will miss out on the ride on Alvarado as Paul Moloney steps back in for the ride with his other intended mount not making the cut.

Tony McCoy also confirmed that he will ride Irish raider Double Seven for previous Grand National winning trainer Martin Brassil. In this instance, Mark Walsh will then step in for the ride on Ted Walsh’s Colbert Station.

There are 9 horses making the trip over from Ireland with the remaining 33 all being trained in Britain.

The going on the Grand National course is currently being described as Good to soft.
