JONATHAN HOBBS: It’s the start of the Colossus Bets Kent Silver Salver at Central Park tonight.
The Silver Salver is one of the sport’s longstanding sprint competitions, but it’s been given an extra twist this year by the sponsors who are offering a bonus of £10,000 on top of the £3,000 first prize should any greyhound go through the competition unbeaten.
And Betdaq customers have a chance to get involved via special markets offered on the Cat Two event.
You can back any dog to win its heat, semi-final and final – a market sure to be popular with connections confident of success! – plus there’s a simple ‘Yes or No’ market. Will the Colossus Bets Kent Silver Salver bonus be won?
Catch the markets here and follow the action live on RPGTV and SIS tonight:

So to tonight’s Silver Salver heats, which look hugely competitive with a strong field including defending champion Magical Houdini, now trained by Belinda Green.
Central Park
6.09: Goldies Hoddle looks well drawn in the opener – a great heat – and could strike for Patrick Janssens. He hosed up in a top-grade event here last week, beating kennelmate Goldies Linekar, who won well at Romford on Friday. Respect is due to defending champ Magical Houdini and the brilliant Lazy Man, making his comeback here.
Play: Goldies Hoddle
6.43: King Drake is one from the McNairs academy of British-bred talent and looks interesting outside in heat two. He showed rip-roaring pace over four bends last week until caught by the powerful Desperado Dan, but will run strongly throughout over this two bends. Chief danger might prove to be local star and regular winner Melodys Jack.
Play: King Drake
7.18: Great to see entries from Sheffield (Keefill Finn) and Doncaster (Freedom Carlito) here, but sandwiched between them is Notouttheway, who gets a narrow vote. John Mullins’s runner has been starring in top graded contests at Yarmouth but also won a sprint there recently. He’s a youngster – still a pup – with lots of speed.
Play: Notouttheway
7.38: Heat four now and Pull The Trigger and Grays Cup Winner could be set for a fantastic clash. Preference is just for Pat Curtin’s red-jacketed runner, who does have C&D-winning form here from before the break, although the Romford raider was quicker in their prep trials and runs strongly throughout given his short four-bend form.
Play: Pull The Trigger
8.17: Another wide-open heat where Melodys Secret could cheer the locals. Spencer Mavrias’s dog is a good trapper, although key will be smash-breaking in this company against the fence. He impressed at Romford pre-lockdown when beating Goldies Hoddle in 23.99sec and that sort of form could see him score here from Ballydorgan Des.
Play: Melodys Secret
8.38: The final Silver Salver heat and Coolavanny Dylan brings Cat One-winning sprint form to the table. The BresMed Northern Sprint winner trialled well here and will have improved for his Sheffield work post-comeback and can shine for Kirsty Grayson. Great to see Fitenwell back – he’s a top four-bend performer at best with lots of speed, too.
Play: Coolavanny Dylan
Good luck all.
