4.30pm After crashing out of the FA Cup Monday night, Man City now turn their attentions to winning their first trophy this season. Arsenal have a good record at surprising you in final cups, especially in the FA Cup recently, so while many may write them off before kick off – they have plenty of experience. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Arsenal 5.6, Manchester City 1.66 and the draw is 4.5.
It’s hard to know what to make of City’s defeat to Wigan on Monday night. They had been in great form going into it, and expected to breeze past – you can certainly expect a reaction from the players here, after things got heated after the final whistle. While they’re still in the Europa League, this is Arsenal’s best hope of success this season – but will a win in the League Cup stop the fans chanting Wenger Out after every setback?
From a betting point of view, there are reasons to lay City at 1.66. In the last four meetings between the sides, City have only won twice and Arsenal tend to play well in these Wembley finals. With two attacking sides, we could easily have plenty of goals and action – however over 2.5 is only trading 1.55 and that’s too short for backing, especially as finals can tend to start slowly. On balance, we’re happy to lay City at the odds – we expect a very entertaining final and Arsenal can outperform their odds.
