The second round of the FA Cup kicks off Friday evening with Blue Square Premier’s Fleetwood Town taking on League One’s Yeovil at Highbury Stadium. At this stage of the FA Cup, teams know they could be just one game away from progressing to the coveted third round where the top sides in the country enter the infamous cup competition.
The Cod Army beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in the previous cup outing with an excellent performance, which will have given manager Nicky Mellon all the conviction that his team can beat another League One side.
Fleetwood will come into the game full of confidence following a 3-0 triumph over Kettering as they kept pace with Wrexham at the top of the Blue Square Premier. Tuesday’s win was their fifth in six league fixtures, so Yeovil can expect a difficult contest.
Terry Skiverton’s side are 22nd in League One and have shipped ten goals in their previous six away league games. In contrast, the Cod Army have let in five in as many home fixtures and are the league’s top goalscorers. Against a weak Yeovil outfit, Fleetwood should have more than enough to claim their second major win of the competition.
