PREVIEW
Friday’s German football offering sees Wolfsburg welcome Hamburg to the Volkswagen Arena hoping to keep up their excellent run of home results. Wolfsburg currently sit ninth in the table with a European finish firmly in sight and they can increase the pressure on the clubs above before the weekend matches.
Wolfsburg come into the game off a 3-1 win at Nuremburg which ended a stretch of five games without a win on the road. They’ve not had the same issues at home as Wolfsburg have won four of their past six there. In-form Patrick Helmes got two at the weekend to go with the one against Bayer Leverkusen. The forward now has six for the season, but has missed much of the campaign for his club.
Hamburg came away with all three points on their last visit to the Volkswagen Arena, but it looks as if they’ll struggle this evening on their current form. Thorsten Fink’s side have lost three on the bounce, including a 3-1 home defeat to struggling Freiburg last time out.
Those disappointing results have been mainly because of some below-par defending that has seen the side concede 14 goals in their past six Bundesliga fixtures. It’s not much better at the other end either as Hamburg have scored just twice in the past three matches.
At around 2.12 on BETDAQ, I would recommend backing Wolfsburg to continue their fine home run to keep their European aspirations on track.
