Championship leaders Blackburn have made their best start to a league campaign in 18 years and are looking to extend a six-game unbeaten run tonight against Middlesbrough. Rovers are also aiming to preserve their 100% home record, with a fourth successive victory. Rovers have recouped an unrivalled seven Championship points from losing positions.
Meanwhile Boro are still searching for a first away point, and defeat tonight would mean four successive away losses. They have conceded three times in the last five minutes of Championship games, the most recent being midweek, in the 4-1 loss at Blackpool.
The last three games between the sides have all ended in low-scoring draws but before that Blackburn had won six of the last seven encounters and they are rightly favourites to win later. The disappointment surrounding the club’s relegation from the Premiership last term has been replaced by a renewed optimism that a quick return to the top-flight can be achieved this season.
Blackburn have scored 14 goals already in the league and will surely have too much firepower for Middlesbrough whose struggles on the road look set to continue.
