PREVIEW

England U21s have started their European qualification bid on fire and have already opened up a five point gap following four wins from four. Stuart Pearce’s side will go in search of their fifth win this evening as they travel to third-placed Belgium.

On Thursday evening the Three Lions hammered Iceland 5-0 to take their group tally to an impressive 16 goals, seven ahead of their nearest rival – Belgium. It’s not just up front where England have excelled as the side have only conceded once in four matches in a 2-1 defeat of Norway.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made a seamless step up into U21 action and the Arsenal midfielder grabbed a hat-trick in England’s second group match back in October. However, England will be unable to call upon both Jack Rodwell and Kyle Walker after they were called up to Fabio Capello’s main squad for games against Spain and Sweden.

However, tonight’s hosts have five points to their name and have won only once in Group 8. Pearce will not underestimate Belgium as they won their only home game with a 4-1 win over Azerbaijan.

A victory this evening would put the Three Lions within touching distance of securing a play-off spot and I expect the side to come away with another three points. An away win is currently trading at around 1.67 on BETDAQ and I wouldn’t put anyone off taking that price.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back England at around 1.67: 5 points

Sunday’s Return: -4 points
