PREVIEW

Tottenham have a fantastic opportunity to snatch third place with a win tonight after Chelsea slipped to a second successive home league defeat yesterday. Before the internationals, Spurs picked up three points from Craven Cottage and now Aston Villa come to White Hart Lane.

Spurs have won their past three league games on the spin and are now unbeaten in six league outings. Harry Redknapp’s side had a very tricky start to the campaign, but have slowly found their feet to get themselves right back in the running for the fourth Champions League spot.

The visitors are eighth in the table and would be far higher if they could replicate their form at Villa Park when on their travels. Alec McLeish’s side have yet to pick up maximum points on the road, although they have only tasted defeat once in five away league games.

Spurs won both league games last season and interestingly Rafael Van der Vaart and Marc Albrighton scored all six of the goals. The head-to-head record has been in Spurs’ favour for the past few campaigns, with Villa’s last triumph coming three years ago.

With Spurs’ excellent home record and Villa’s inability to win on the road, it’s very hard to argue against another home win here. My advice would be to back Spurs are around 1.53 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Tottenham at around 1.53: 6 points

Sunday’s Return: -4.00 points
