PREVIEW

If there’s ever a good time for Wigan to face the league leaders, it’s probably now. Manchester City have had a fantastic season, but through a mixture of poor form and missing players – the side have started to look like they can be beaten.

Wigan are still faced with a daunting task of hosting Manchester City later tonight and if their head-to-head record is anything to go by, the Latics look like they are in for a difficult evening. Roberto Martinez’s side were dumped out of the FA Cup by lowly Swindon last weekend and that’s certainly not the ideal preparation when trying to stop the league leaders.

Wigan fans must look back to September 2008 to find the last time their side beat Man City as the underdogs ran out 2-1 winners that afternoon. Since that victory, the Latics have failed to beat City in six consecutive matches. The money being spent in the blue side of Manchester obviously means City are a different beast nowadays and the league meeting this season ended in a 3-0 hammering at the Etihad Stadium.

If things were not tough enough, City have won their past four games against Wigan to nil – the average winning margin in that period stands at 2.25 goals. Considering Wigan are also the lowest scorers in the league with 18 goals, nothing other than an away victory looks on the cards. Punters can back City at around 1.46 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Man City at around 1.46: 6 points

Sunday’s Return: -5 points
