PREVIEW
Richard Gasquet stands in the way of Andy Murray’s route to the last eight and tennis fans will be expecting an entertaining match if the past contests are anything to go by. The British number one came through a tough game against Ivan Ljubicic in the last round, while his opponent only needed three sets to dispatch of Simone Bolelli.
Two of the past three meetings between the two players have gone the distance and both of those have seen Murray fight back from two sets down. Murray has twice before reached the semis at SW19 and his current form suggests that another appearance is on the cards.
One area that Murray will need to work on is his second serve. Compared to the three seeds above him, Murray’s second serve win percentage is just 52%. Gasquet has shown that he has the tools to cause Murray problems this afternoon, but the fourth seed player should have enough to progress to the last eight.
Murray has been in good touch on his way to the second week and he has only dropped two sets in three matches. The Frenchman can take a set here, but backing Murray to win 3-1 at 3.5 on the ‘Daq’ looks wise given that Gasquet hasn’t lost a set to date.
