PREVIEW
The waiting is nearly over as the most hotly anticipated Manchester derby in years gets underway at the Etihad Stadium this evening.

A few weeks ago this game looked to only have local bragging rights up for grabs, until Man United suffered a run of poor results to see their eight point lead cut to just three. Sir Alex Ferguson now knows that a Man City victory would take them to the summit on goal difference with two games to play.

Roberto Mancini’s side have been in scintillating form since losing at the Emirates and they come into the game on the back of three straight victories. City remain imperious at home in the league as Sunderland are still the only side to return with a point. United dumped City out of the FA Cup on their last game at the Etihad and they’ve not lost their previous three fixtures there.

United will certainly need to defend better than they did against Everton. The Red Devils have dropped points against Wigan and Everton over the past few games, but Sir Alex knows that a point tonight would leave them in the driving seat. It looks as if United will set up with five across midfield and try to frustrate with Ji-Sung Park recalled to the starting XI.

Although United have struggled of late, they can be expected to raise their game when it really matters. The visitors have been down this road many times before and they have the experience to get what they need from the game.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Lay Man City at around 2.26: 5 points

Sunday’s Return: +3.29 points

APRIL RETURN TO DATE: -40.10
