Switzerland have a reputation for dour football and there is every chance they will arrive at Wembley intent of keeping England quiet with the home side missing a large chunk of goalscoring potential.
Steven Gerard, Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll and Jermain Defoe are all unavailable and there are some big shoes to fill among that quartet. However, Darren Bent, who has scored on his last three international appearances, is a good enough understudy for a home game against a team of Switzerland’s calibre and there will be plenty of support from midfield.
The Three Lions are available at around 1.39 on Betdaq, but backing them with a -1.5 Asian handicap at 2.23 might be a preferable option.
Other than the blip against Montenegro when England could only grab a point in their last Wembley qualifier, they have achieved victory by at two goals in their group games, including a 3-1 triumph in Basel.
