PREVIEW
Liverpool and Chelsea suffered disappointing league defeats during the week with plenty of changes made to the starting XIs. Chelsea’s defeat to Newcastle leaves them with a mountain to climb if they want the final Champions League spot, while Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Fulham means Everton should finish above them.

The Reds have had a shocking season in the league, but Kenny Dalglish has been saved by a strong cup run in both competitions. It wasn’t pretty against Cardiff, but Liverpool got it done in the end and they could be 90 minutes away from an historic double. Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard were among the players that didn’t feature against Fulham and you can expect both to start at Wembley.

Suarez was simply unplayable in his last start and his hat-trick against Norwich means he’ll be full of confidence ahead of the final.

Chelsea looked tired on Wednesday night and Roberto Di Matteo will be hoping the players can find another level in North London. Like Liverpool, Chelsea rested some key players and one of those was Didier Drogba, who loves playing at Wembley. The Blues have won the competition three times in the previous five years and Drogba has scored in all three of those triumphs.

A number of Chelsea players are banned for the Champions League final, so Ramires and co will give everything knowing it’s likely their last meaningful game of the season. Chelsea have an affinity with the FA Cup and I fancy the Blues within 90 minutes.
