PREVIEW
Neither Chelsea nor Bayern Munich have had a great season compared to their usual high standards and the Champions League final offers some salvation for both managers. It’s not the final that many predicted, but an excellent showpiece is expected given that both sides are missing key personnel at the back.

Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry, Holger Badstuber and David Alaba are all absent from the defence which should make for an interesting contest. The hosts are attack-minded by nature and Jupp Heynckes knows his best chance of winning is with his front three of Mario Gomez, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Bayern Munich have the luxury of playing at their home ground and they have been excellent at the Allianz Arena in Europe this year. They have won all seven of their home games en route to the final and have scored an impressive 21 times – at an average of three per game.

Chelsea reached their second European final in five years by pulling off an extraordinary win against Barcelona in the semi-finals. Roberto Di Matteo has rescued a faltering season and restored some belief to the side. The Blues are also missing Ramires and Raul Meireles further up field to make their task even harder.

Didier Drogba will relish his chance up against a makeshift Bayern back four, but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep the hosts out at the other end. There should be goals in this, but with home advantage and fewer key players missing – Bayern are the bet to land a fifth European title in 90 minutes at 1.84 on BETDAQ.
