PREVIEW
Today Serena Williams bids to join an elite trio of women’s singles champions as she goes for her fifth Wimbledon title. Only her sister Venus, German legend Steffi Graf and all-time leading Wimbledon lady Martina Navratilova have won five or more singles championships at SW19 in the Open era.

Agnieszka Radwanska is the opponent standing in Serena’s way of tennis immortality but the Pole is surely facing an uphill battle to land her maiden Grand Slam in her first major final. Radwanska has enjoyed a fairly straightforward run to the tournament showpiece, dropping just one set in her six matches, ending the hopes of Britain’s Heather Watson in round three before successive wins over seeded players Maria Kirilenko and Angelique Kerber led her into today’s clash.

Williams seems to save her best for the All England Club these days and her pursuit of a 14th Grand Slam title has seen her beat off the second and fourth seeds in straight sets. Her one scare came in the third round where Jie Zheng pushed her to a decider in which Williams eventually prevailed 9-7. She then dropped a set against talented Kazakhstani Yaroslava Shvedova but has hit full stride at the business end of the tournament and is the overwhelming favourite to dismiss Radwanska’s title aspirations.

As such, punters are not going to get rich smashing into Williams at 1.2 so, with the American looking imperious in her last two matches, back her to win in two sets at slightly longer odds.
