PREVIEW
This is typically the time of the year that Wigan start to hit some form. Roberto Martinez’s charges seem to thrive in the heat of the relegation battle and the Spaniard will have them primed for the visit of Liverpool.

The Latics go into the teatime kick-off on the back of an impressive 3-0 away win over relegation rivals Reading last weekend and, against an inconsistent Reds side, should be able to make an impact.

It’s been a desperately disappointing season for the Brendan Rodgers’ visitors to the DW Stadium. The 5-0 victory over a weakened Swansea at Anfield last time out was the first time all season Liverpool had beaten a team in the top ten of the Premier League and was also their first win in four league games. But that emphatic defeat of the Swans will have done little to cheer up the Merseysiders after they were dumped out of the Europa League.

Wigan have lost only one of their last six league games against Liverpool and six of the seven Premier League games between Wigan and Liverpool at the DW Stadium have had under 2.5 goals. No side has drawn more games on the road this season than Liverpool and this looks like it will be another tight contest.
