PREVIEW

Newcastle warmed up for today’s big game with a brilliant 3-0 win over Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday and that should fill them with lots of confidence for the visit of Manchester United.

Alan Pardew’s side won this fixture 3-0 last season and in-form Senegal striker Demba Ba, just one of many players with great scoring records in this clash, got on the scoresheet in both last term’s encounters.

United’s striking force of Wayne Rooney and new addition Robin van Persie both boast brilliant records against the Magpies. Rooney has ten Premier League goals versus today’s rivals, his joint-best haul against any club, and van Persie has five goals in his last five starts against Newcastle.

The Magpies have won nine and lost just one of their last 13 Premier League games at the Sports Direct Arena while only Southampton have fallen behind in more games than Man Utd in the Premier League this season.

United’s leaky defence has been a cause of concern for Sir Alex Ferguson and he is set to once again have limited resources in that area.

Davide Santon, Jonas Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa and Ba are all likely to return for the Toon, having been rested in the week.

Newcastle have only won one of their last ten encounters with the Red Devils but the latter’s laboured recent form makes them opposable. However, considering the range of attacking talent on both teams, probably the best bet is to back both teams to score at around 1.66 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back both teams to score at around 1.66 on BETDAQ: 4 points

Saturday: +4.05 points

OCTOBER RETURN TO DATE: +35.77 points
