PREVIEW
Tottenham will get their first taste of competitive action against Hearts this evening after the unrest around London saw their league game against Everton was postponed. One obvious benefit of the cancellation is that the side will be fresh and ready to go before a couple of tricky fixtures, including a visit to Old Trafford on Monday evening.
Harry Redknapp has had a tough summer and has so far done well to keep star man Luka Modric at the club. One player that has departed is Robbie Keane, who has moved across the Atlantic to sign for LA Galaxy.
Spurs were a breath of fresh air in last season’s Champions League and the manager will look to set the side up in a similar fashion in the Europa League. They played with plenty of flair and if it were not for an early dismissal at the Bernabeu – a last four place was on the cards.
Hearts bounced back from a poor start to their SPL season with a convincing 3-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend. The three points will have helped boost team morale in time for the visit of Spurs, but a home win is still trading at around 6.2 on the ‘Daq’. There’ll be concerns that last weekend’s game was the first time in five outings that Hearts had managed to keep a clean sheet.
With the fresher legs, I fancy Tottenham to prove too strong for the Jambos and I wouldn’t put anyone off backing the away side at 1.64.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Spurs at around 1.64 on Betdaq: 6 points
Wednesday’s Return: +3.48
