PREVIEW
Round 4 of the Coppa Italia sees the Serie A big guns enter the competition and Fiorentina have been drawn against Empoli later today. Much like the Carling Cup, the bigger sides choose to rotate their squads at this stage and it’ll give some of the fringe players an opportunity to show their managers what they are missing.
The Viola were left frustrated against AC Milan at the weekend as the hosts were unable to find the breakthrough despite having the better of the game. This match up will have added spice given the proximity of the two clubs.
Empoli should not provide too much of a problem for Fiorentina given their position in Serie B. The visitors have managed to keep three clean sheets on the spin, making four in a total of 16 matches. The last time these two rivals met was in the 2010 competition and the Viola came away with a 1-0 win after extra-time.
Fiorentina come into the clash on a run of poor form that has seen them win just once in six league games. However, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side are unbeaten in three home league games and they have not conceded in their past two. It’ll be a tight game, but I fancy Fiorentina to sneak this one and taking the 1.39 available on BETDAQ looks the best bet here.
