Fulham currently have a four point cushion on Odense BK in third place as they head off to Holland to face FC Twente. The reverse fixture in West London finished in a frustrating draw as the Cottagers let a one goal lead slip shortly before halftime.
Tonight’s hosts have already guaranteed a safe passage to the knock-out stages, although Fulham can still beat them to top spot. The Dutch side are the leading scorers in the group stages in this year’s competition and they have won both their home group games to date. In the games against Wisla and OB at home they scored seven times.
Twente’s victories in Group K saw that they have now lost just once in their past eleven European matches, although they have struggled against English opposition over the years. The Dutch club are yet to beat an English side in 12 contests and hold a record of five draws and seven defeats in that period.
Martin Jol will be relishing the opportunity to face his former club, but this will already be Fulham’s twelfth match of the competition. However, the Cottagers will head into the game full of confidence after getting a point at the Emirates. Andy Johnson already has five goals in the competition and he scored the opener the last time the sides met.
After the performance against Arsenal, Fulham are capable of getting a point against the league leaders and I’d recommend backing that outcome at 3.35 on BETDAQ.
