PREVIEW

Bottom-placed Novara take on Chievo this evening for a Serie A clash looking to bring an end to a run of five consecutive defeats. Novara were one of the early favourites to be relegated and the club need a huge turnaround in the second half of the season if they’re to prove their doubters wrong.

With the game at the Stadio Silvio Piola, the hosts face a huge challenge as they have lost three of their past six home league games here. Novara have only won twice in Serie A this campaign, but fans will take some comfort in that both of those triumphs came at home. The reverse fixture on the opening day of the season finished all square as a late Massimo Paci strike rescued a point.

Chievo are currently 12th in the table and come into the game off the back of a 3-0 defeat at home to Lazio. Chievo have only won once in six away league games and the side must start scoring more if they’re to get a result. In six league games Chievo have only scored five times, while Novara have only managed three in the same period.

Neither side is in good form and much of that can be attributed to a lack of firepower up top. Novara’s top scorer, Marco Rigoni, has six to his name and Alberto Paloschi’s leads the way for Chievo with four. My advice would be to back there to be fewer than 2.5 goals at around 1.66 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back under 2.5 goals at around 1.66: 6 points

Wednesday#s Return: +3.44 points
