Manchester United cut the lead at the top of the Premier League back to two points with a vital 3-1 victory at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Attention now returns to Europe as United prepare for a cracking Europa League tie with Athletico Madrid in Manchester.
Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that he played too many youngsters in the second leg against Ajax and it nearly cost United a place in the last 16. With that in mind the United manager will not be taking the same risks this time around and an experienced starting XI is expected. The Red Devils were very well organised at White Hart Lane on Sunday as they had to endure long periods without the ball.
Bilbao are currently fifth in La Liga, but they have found it tough picking up points on the road in recent weeks. Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won only once in their past six away La Liga fixtures and they are up against a side that have won 10 of their 13 home league matches.
Bielsa knows that if he can keep things tight at Old Trafford then Bilbao will have a chance to progress on the back of their excellent home form. However, United are hitting form at the right time and are even picking up important results without playing well. With the fixtures piling up, Sir Alex will be looking to take a solid advantage to Spain and the hosts are worth backing at 1.53 on BETDAQ.
