PREVIEW
Liverpool’s start to the season under new boss Brendan Rodgers began as the last one had ended – in bitter disappointment. A comprehensive 3-0 drubbing away to West Brom has already put pressure on Rodgers and his new signings.
Tonight’s game against Scottish side Hearts may be a welcome distraction for the Anfield club as they seek to regain the winning thread.
Hearts sit second in the Scottish Premier League at present and are unbeaten in three games so far. Without Rangers in the top-tier the Edinburgh team will fancy their chances of a good league campaign and will surely be fired up for this tie as they seek to extend their European adventure.
Hearts defender Marius Zaliukas suffered a dead leg during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Inverness but has been able to train since the weekend and should play a part.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and striker Luis Suarez will not feature tonight and Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson have also not travelled for the game. In just three days Liverpool host Manchester City, so it seems current priorities may lie away from Scotland.
The Reds are so unpredictable these days that it’s hard to see why they warrant being such a short price on BETDAQ. Their lack of goal threat will be evident tonight without Suarez and, while they may nick it, it is not going to be a goal fest.
