Brendan Rodgers has had a difficult start to his Liverpool managerial career and only just got his first league win on the weekend. However, that 5-2 demolition job over Norwich followed on from a League Cup victory away to West Brom and Anfield will be hoping the Reds can continue their winning spree when they host Italian side Udinese tonight.
Although this will be the first time the sides have met, Udinese will become the eighth Italian team that Liverpool have faced in European competition. Of their 22 previous games, they have won just eight (D5 L9) but Liverpool have only lost one of their last 12 Europa League games, winning five and drawing six. They haven’t lost a home UEFA Cup/Europa League game since March 2003 (0-2 v Celtic).

Udinese have only met an English opponent once before in Europe; they beat Tottenham 2-0 at home in the 2008/09 Europa League but the second-oldest club in Italy have won just one of their last nine away games in Europe. They have drawn three and lost five in that time.
The Italians are no world beaters but punters can’t be confident of lumping on Liverpool and, considering only champions Juventus have beaten Udinese by more than one goal this term, backing the visitors at +0.5/1 on the Asian handicap at around 2.14 looks the bet.
