It’s top versus bottom at the b2net Stadium this evening as Charlton look to tighten their grip at the top of League One.
The Addicks have had a busy few weeks and this is the third consecutive week that they have had two games within seven days. On Saturday the Addicks edged out play-off contenders Stevenage with an assured performance at the Valley. The 2-0 victory was the eighth game on the spin without defeat and the side are undefeated in the league since the turn of the year.
Charlton ran out 3-1 winners in the reverse fixture and their away form suggests a league double is certainly within reach. Chris Powell’s side have only tasted defeat once in six away league outings ahead of tonight’s clash.
Chesterfield are currently five points from safety as they were beaten 1-0 by Notts County at the weekend. The Spireites did win their previous home game against a decent Sheffield Wednesday outfit and manager John Sheridan will be hopeful his side can give the visitors a run for their money. Form in general at home has been inconsistent for the Spireites and they have really struggled for goals, with only four coming in their past six home league outings.
The finishing line is in sight for the Addicks and they look a good shout to get the three points which would maintain their healthy lead at the top.
