PREVIEW
After a very dogged display in the first leg Massimiliano Allegri takes his aging AC Milan team to the fortress that is the Camp Nou. The shut out at the San Siro last week was only the fourth time Barcelona have failed to score all season. Barcelona have only won three of their previous ten meetings with Milan, however, Pepe Guardiola’s current side is widely regarded as one of the best ever and with Lionel Messi scoring 11 goals in his last 8 champions league games, a Barcelona win would seem a formality.
The winners of this tie have been touted as favourites for the tournament along with Real Madrid so the importance of the game cannot be overlooked. However, anyone thinking that AC Milan will turn up and just roll over will be in for a surprise. This AC Milan side, that mixes older experienced players such as Seedorf and Nesta with young flair players such as Robinho and Boateng has all the qualities needed to cause an upset.
However AC Milan’s last away performance at the Emirates was abject at best and they have yet to win away from home in the Champions League this season and they will need to improve on their previous away outings to stand a chance of progressing.
Barcelona have scored 15 goals in their four previous Champions League home games and they’ll be desperate to score a few goals to send a message to their Spanish rivals Real Madrid. At around 1.71 on BETDAQ, I would suggest punters back over 2.5 goals.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back over 2.5 at around 1.57: 5 points
Monday’s Return: +2.92 points
APRIL RETURN TO DATE: +12.52
