PREVIEW
Only a few weeks ago Manchester City had a comfortable lead at the top of the table before some disappointing performances have given the initiative back to their biggest rivals. Roberto Mancini’s side can close the gap on Man United to only a point with a victory this evening, but two defeats in their past three outings suggests it won’t be easy.

City have lost four times this campaign and all of those have come on the road with the most recent being at Swansea City. At the Etihad Stadium the side have so far remained untouchable and have won each of their 14 matches there.

Mancini has seen his side score 17 times in the last six home league games and they’ve not conceded a goal in their past three in front of their own fans. Vincent Kompany has been a rock at the back for City and his continued absence tonight will be a big miss.

Chelsea continue to improve under Roberto Di Matteo’s guidance and even Fernando Torres was amongst the goals on Sunday. The Blues have won four on the spin since the Italian took charge, but Chelsea’s away form suggests that his run may come to an end. Chelsea have won just once in six away league contests, but they’ve shown enough to back them getting a point against a below-par City without their best centre-back.
