PREVIEW
Adam Dugdale’s vital winner means that Crewe just need a draw to guarantee their place in the League Two play-off final.

On the Alex’s last visit to Roots Hall, Mohsni Bilel’s goal on 74 minutes ensured that the hosts took all three points on the afternoon. However, Roots Hall hasn’t always proved a bogey ground for Crewe, as the two prior visits brought about a couple of decent results. The Alex took all three points in both the previous seasons and managed to do so without conceding a goal.

Southend had a mixed record at home in the league, winning 12 of their 23 home league games, with six draws and five defeats. However, the Shrimpers did finish the campaign on the back of four wins in their final six home league games. Perhaps the strongest element of that closing run is that the final three home games saw Southend score seven times without conceding at the other end.

Dean Smith will be a little frustrated that he was unable to match the Alex’s consistency at the Alexandra Stadium when on their travels. Over the course of the season, the Alex did win one more away fixture than they lost and another is within reach at around 4.6 on BETDAQ. From the final six away matches the Alex picked up a decent return of ten points and their run of results and 1-0 lead means that they are good value to make it back-to-back wins.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Crewe at 4.6: 3 points

Tuesday Return: -4

MAY RETURN TO DATE: +7.65
