PREVIEW
Oxford have no new injury problems as they welcome local rivals Swindon to the Kassam Stadium for their first round clash in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tonight. Chris Wilder’s men suffered a 3-1 reverse at the hands of York on the weekend and ahead of the hotly-anticipated match Wilder recognised the task ahead saying, ‘If you beat your local rivals you can’t beat that feeling, but it will be a tough one for us.’

He is unlikely to make too many changes after that first league defeat to the Minstermen but Tom Craddock may be recalled.

Swindon and their fiery manager Paulo Di Canio were in the news this week after Di Canio gave his young goalkeeper a very public verbal lashing, criticising his display in the 4-1 defeat to Preston on the weekend. After conceding two early goals Wes Foderingham was hauled off and Di Canio said the player wouldn’t play for the club again until he apologised for his ‘arrogance’.

According to the Robins’ website Foderingham has apologised to Di Canio and is likely to start. The Italian boss could also hand a debut to Adam Rooney, who was a substitute at the weekend after joining from Birmingham on-loan.

Oxford have a brilliant recent record against Swindon, winning the last three encounters, including the league double last term and, with home advantage and tensions in the Swindon camp probably affected by Di Canio’s rather unprofessional outburst, they look more than a solid bet for the victory at around 3.1 on BETDAQ.
