18 Sep 2012 Champions League, Real Madrid 3– 2 Man City
PREVIEW
The Etihad is the setting tonight for a potentially mouth-watering Champions League clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Roberto Mancini’s side need all three points to keep alive any slim hopes they have of progressing into the knockout stages. The Citizens lie bottom of Group D with just two points after four games. However, they thrashed Aston Villa 5-0 on the weekend in impressive style.
Tonight’s visitors are currently second in the group with seven points and Jose Mourinho will be targeting maximum points in Manchester to keep his side in contention for the top spot. Following a poor domestic start to the season, the La Liga champions have turned things around and have lost only once in their last 13 games, winning ten. Cristiano Ronaldo and co easily brushed aside Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, winning 5-1.
Real Madrid are brimming with quality all over the pitch and Ronaldo will surely want to make a point on his return to Manchester. Jose Mourinho has already taunted City on their European failures and would love to rub salt in the wounds of Mancini, the manager he replaced at Inter Milan on the way to leading the Italians to Champions League glory in 2010.
Take the Spanish giants to finish City off tonight at around 2.24 on BETDAQ.
