PREVIEW
This is the first time Swansea have ever made the quarter-finals of the League Cup and they will be out to avoid repeating Arsenal’s slip-up to a lower-ranked team last night, as they chase their Wembley dream.

Remarkably, this is Middlesbrough’s 12th away League Cup game in a row. They have won seven and lost four of the previous 11. 2004 winners Boro have reached the League Cup semi-finals five times.

Many predicted Swansea would struggle this season after their exploits last term and the loss of their manager Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool. However, it has been much of the same from the Swans for the most part and they sit eighth in the Premier League table, just three points off fourth spot.

Their rivals tonight sit third in the Championship and are still in the mix for automatic promotion. They have the joint-second best away record in the division and have won all four of their League Cup ties in normal time.

This will be a tricky test for Michael Laudrup’s team but the players and fans at the Liberty Stadium know if they can beat Boro they will have a real chance to reach their first English cup final since they won the Football League Trophy in 2006.

There has been a goal scored in the 88th minute or later in nine of the last ten League Cup matches involving Swansea, so punters are advised not to celebrate until the final whistle.

But bettors can celebrate a home win at odds of around 1.67 on BETDAQ. The top-flight side should have too much class and too much firepower for a Boro side who have blown hot and cold in recent weeks.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Swansea at around 1.67 on BETDAQ: 4 points

Tuesday: -4.00 points
DECEMBER RETURN TO DATE: -3.55 points
