MATCH POINT: Our tennis tipping column is 62 points up since it started with the next BETDAQ tennis bet in the Novak Djokovic v Denis Shapovalov final of the Paris Masters on Sunday.
An anti-climax in Paris yesterday when Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw from his semi-final clash with Denis Shapovalov.
The Spaniard cited an abdominal injury which left Shapovalov with a pass into this afternoon’s final with Novak Djokovic.
As mentioned yesterday, Shapovalov already had an easy first round tie when his opponent Giles Simon was forced to retire after just four games and whilst it’s great that he has progressed to the final – the lack of match play could well count against him against the force that is Djokovic.
For all the progress the Canadian player has made, he will surely again come up short against the world number 1. The two players have met three times previously with all three matches going the way of the Serb who has only conceded one set.
Two of those meetings came this year so they can be considered reasonably accurate form guides with Djokovic winning 6-1, 6-3 in Rome and 6-3, 6-3 in China.
Djokovic bids for a record fifth title here and arrives on the back of a straight sets win over Grigor Dimitrov.
Plenty of BETDAQ tennis markets to be checked out as always but it’s pretty hard for me to not get drawn into the straight sets victory for Djokovic which can be backed at around 1.5.
