MATCH POINT: Our tennis pundit MATCH POINT is in good shape heading into Saturday’s Women’s Final with his only pre-tournament selection Iga Swiatek in the final and hot favourite on BETDAQ to lift the trophy.

It’s one of those great punting positions to be in going into the final of the Women’s US Open as my ONLY pre-tournament selection Iga Swiatek has reached the final!

The recommended bet was 6 points to win Swiatek at 5.4 on the BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK and now the final decision has to be whether to let it ride or take a little ‘insurance’ by laying the bet back at odds of around 1.62.

The latter option has to be the sensible option given she is such a short price to lift the trophy.

Standing in her way is fifth seed Ons Jabeur who, after Wimbledon, has made it to back to back Grand Slam finals having defeated Caroline Garcia 6-1 6-3 in the semi-finals.

Świątek, two time winner of the French Open, had to work much harder in her semi-final needing all three sets to beat Belarusian sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka.

It’s fair to say the tournament has run to recent form with the most dominant players on the Tour this season squaring off in Saturday’s final.

There’s nothing to choose between the pair on the head to head stats. They’ve met four times with it two wins apiece. Swiatek has however won their most recent meeting quite convincingly when she ran out a 6-6 6-2 winner on the clay in the final at Rome.

I’m still firmly in the Swiatek camp. She is very mindful of the challenge to come saying: “It’s always tough and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be physical. She has such good hands, she is solid on the baseline and when she’s going in so I have to be careful. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Right now, I’m just going to enjoy being in the final.”

After Swiatek’s sensational 37-match winning streak came to an end at Wimbledon if wouldn’t have been the greatest surprise to see her form dip coming off that high but she has regrouped well and can get back in the winning groove.

A Świątek win will guarantee a profit of 26.4 points but I will play that insurance card mentioned at the beginning by laying her at 1.62 on BETDAQ for 12 points.

That will leave us with a profit in either scenario:

SWIATEK WIN: 26.4 points from ante-post less 7.44 for lay in final = +18.96 points
JABEUR WIN: -6 points from ante-post plus 12 points from lay in the final = +6.00 points
