MATCH POINT: The US Open starts at Flushing Meadows on Monday. Our tennis pundit MATCH POINT is back to preview the Women’s tournament with a recommended BETDAQ selection.

It’s all set to be a fascinating and emotional Women’s tournament. 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams doesn’t like using the ‘retirement’ word but in all probability this will be her final tournament.

Although her match fitness and recent form comes with large question marks – she has continually defied the odds and her final tournament might just eek out some improvement on recent efforts. She is priced at 42.0 on the BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK for those keeping the faith one more time.

Her doubles games are also likely to get plenty of attention. She is partnering sister Venus with the pair having received a wildcard entry.

The women’s tournament also throws up the huge question of how far will defending champion Emma Raducanu go?

It’s rare to see a defending champion priced as big as 27.0 as she is on the BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK but that’s merely a reflection of how she has performed since her sensational win last year.

The British number one has seen her popularity (and bank balance!) soar after her stunning win 12 months ago when she lifted the trophy without dropping a set as an unseeded player!

It was the stuff of fairytales but her form has been patchy since then and she has hardly got the easiest of starts against Alize Cornet in the first round on Wednesday.

I’m going to stick with Iga Swiatek who looks a little overpriced at around 5.4.

She might well have been odds-on if her remarkable run of success was still intact. Her 37-match winning streak finally came to an end at Wimbledon but that might be a relief for her and the World number one and top seed can add a US title to her two French Open Slams.

She faces Italian Jasmine Paolini in the first round on Tuesday
