England are down, but not quite out, although the history book say that no team has ever lost their opening two games at a World Cup and progressed from the group.
Firstly, they require Italy to win this – even a draw won’t be enough to delay their journey home from Brazil.
We weren’t overly impressed with the Italians in their opener against England and may find Costa Rica a bigger challenge than the BETDAQ match odds suggest.
Italy have a few injury problems mounting and also have to contest with the hot predicted temperatures in Recife which will suit Costa Riva better.
Gianluigi Buffon and Mattia De Sciglio are back in training for Italy but a late decision will be made on their fitness whilst Andrea Barzagli and Daniele De Rossi also picked up minor knocks and are also subject to a late decision.
Plenty of passing and a low scoring game looks the most likely and we are playing some correct score permutations on the BETDAQ correct score market with that in mind.
