After suffering play-off final heartbreak last season when they lost to Huddersfield on penalties, Sheffield United will be desperate to make amends this season. They kick off their League One play-off semi-final against Yeovil this evening and, despite losing 2-0 at home to the Glovers this season, are favourites at around 2.04 on BETDAQ.
United were top of the table in December and again in February before an alarming slump in form ended their hopes of automatic promotion. Yeovil, on the other hand, finished the second half of the season strongly, climbing from 14th in December to just pip United for fourth.
Neither side ended their campaigns on a particularly strong note, both losing two of their last three games, but you imagine minds were already thinking about the play-offs. Fans of the Blades will be hoping they can finally break the hoodoo that has seen them contest six play-off campaigns without success.
There might be a mental fragility about the hosts when it comes to the business end of the season and the hosts home form was the worst of any of the top nine teams in the league. They won just eight of 23 and Yeovil’s away form was up there with the best of them. In a cagey game chance the draw at around 3.5 on BETDAQ.
