Whatever you think of Moyes and his performance this season he’s handled his exit in a dignified manner. The fact he failed to make any reference to the players is very telling.
Losing the support of the dressing room is something that had been banded around for a while. It’s hard to believe that a bunch of highly paid players playing for one of the most prestigious clubs in the world could potentially drop their effort levels but in this case it’s a distinct possibility.
Only time will tell whether Moyes was working against his players rather than with them or whether he was working with a deck of cards that were past their best anyway.
