After a run of six straight defeats that has left them rooted to the foot of the Premier League table, Reading look doomed for relegation and the appointment of Nigel Adkins as boss looks to have been made with the aim of a swift return next term.
The Royals host Adkins’ old club Southampton in the lunchtime kick-off today and Saints could hardly be making the trip to the Madejski in better shape. The seaside club have beaten Liverpool and Chelsea in successive games and have now climbed to 12th in the table, with safety all but guaranteed.
They might have only won two away games all season but, at around 2.32 on BETDAQ, they are a great price to see off the hosts, who are devoid of confidence.
Reading have won just four of their 15 home games and have been beaten by other strugglers Wigan and Aston Villa on home turf in recent games. Adkins will be desperate to inflict defeat on his old club after he was harshly sacked earlier this season but if Mauricio Pochettino’s men turn up in the sort of form they’ve displayed in recent weeks they’ll be hard to beat.
