PREVIEW
It’s the dream final on Centre Court today. Can Andy Murray become the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to win Wimbledon ?

The answer to the question is yes. Of course he can.

There are no longer mental issues associated with Andy Murray. Firstly, he’s been here before and as we saw with Bartoli yesterday the experience of a previous Wimbledon Final can make a big difference.

Secondly, he doesn’t have to fear Djokovic. His win in the US Open in New York last year proved he can master the Serbian maestro but more importantly if gave Andy Murray a first Grand Slam win.

Murray admits in a game which is as much about the mental approach he is in a better place: “I think I’ll be probably in a better place mentally. I would hope so just because I’ve been there before. I won a grand slam. I would hope I would be a little bit calmer.”

In 18 previous encounters Djokovic leads 11-7 and has won the last three meetings, while Murray won their only previous match on grass in the semi-finals of the Olympics.

Their matches have mostly been close and increasingly long, and Murray feels neither has the psychological edge.

It might come down to who wants it more today. And it might be Murray’s time.
