Nigel Pearson’s Leicester crept into the Championship play-offs on the final day of the season on Saturday, edging out both Bolton and Nottingham Forest, with a 3-2 away victory over Forest – only their second win in 13 outings – which was sufficient for sixth place and they renew rivalry with Watford tonight in the first-leg of the play-off semi-final.
These teams met less than two weeks ago when Watford won here at the King Power Stadium to keep alive their hopes of automatic promotion. They were just pipped by Hull, though, on the final day and Gianfranco Zola has to get his men up from that disappointment.
The Hornets should be confident considering they have won the last three games versus the Foxes, including a brace of 2-1 victories this season. But Pearson’s men, who endured a torrid slump towards the end of the season, will be buoyed by their unlikely success in clinching a play-off spot and this looks a tricky game to call from a result point of view.
Watford were the division’s top scorers and also took the most points on the road and there should be a few goals tonight. Back over 2.5 goals at around 1.85 on BETDAQ.
