PREVIEW
Results in the lower half of the Premier League table over the bank holiday weekend did little to clear up who the last team to be relegated will be and tonight’s match between Wigan and Swansea is a massive game for the hosts. They still have a game in hand of their rivals but know a defeat later will leave them with a mountain to climb, particularly as they still have to travel to the Emirates to play Arsenal.
No team is on a longer winless run that Swansea in the league so they can take heart from that. Ever since the Welsh club secured the Capital One Cup and their top-flight status there’s been a sense of ‘job done’ around the Liberty Stadium. However, they’ve only lost one of their last four and the 0-0 draw last time out against Manchester City showed they won’t be a pushover at the DW Stadium.
Only Norwich have failed to score away to Wigan this season so the Swans should fancy their chances of hitting the net at the very least. Wigan, along with Manchester United, are the only sides yet to play out a 0-0 draw this term. On the other hand, no team has had more goalless stalemates than Swansea.
This is typically the time of year Wigan hit some form but two wins in 11 games tell its own story and they look opposable at around 1.86 on BETDAQ. You couldn’t be confident of Swansea getting a win, so the best bet looks to be a lay of the Latics.
