There weren’t too many scares yesterday as England played out a fairly drab 0-0 draw to end their tournament without a win.
Nigeria face Argentina today – the top two in Group F. Argentina are already safe after two opening wins but gave long odds on backers the biggest of scares when only getting a winner against Iran in injury time courtesy of Messi.
There’s still quite a lot at stake for both teams. If Argentina lose and finish second in the Group, they would most probably face a tricky match with France in the first knock out match.
Nigeria have lost all three of their previous World Cup encounters with Argentina and need a point from this one to guarantee progression, otherwise they will need the simultaneous kick off between Bosnia and Iran to go their way.
