CHELSEA V MIDDLESBROUGH
8pm It was a successful weekend for Chelsea and they didn’t even have to play. Spurs slipped up away to West Ham on Friday night, and while Chelsea basically had the league won before that anyway, they definitely have it won now. Of course, they can lose their last three games – but it would be the shock of all shocks should they not lift the title this season now!
They’ll view this as a routine home win and the markets have taken the same view. The match odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Chelsea 1.18, Middlesbrough 20.0 and the draw is 9.4. Middlesbrough did manage a home draw last time out against Manchester City, however they’ve lost eight of their last ten away from home. With Hull losing at home to Sunderland on Saturday though, Middlesbrough do have a slight chance of staying up, so we can expect a decent effort from the away side.
It’s difficult to see anything other than a home win though, Chelsea should simply outclass the visitors. Chelsea have played five games against the promoted sides this season and won four of them without conceding a single goal – the other game was a 1-1 draw away against Burnley, however Burnley have been superb at home this season. A Chelsea clean sheet would be tempting, however they have been leaking goals lately and they’ve only kept one clean sheet in their last 12 games – that puts us off that bet.
We feel the best value here is in the handicap markets. Chelsea are currently trading 1.9 -2 goals in the Asian Handicap market and that looks like a big price – it’s void if they win by two goals, and it’s hard to see them not scoring three or more against this Middlesbrough side.
