PREMIER LEAGUE WEDNESDAY: We preview Wednesday’s Premier League game at St Mary’s between Southampton and Arsenal with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

7.45pm We’re getting towards the end of the season now and teams have to play their games in hand midweek, so while most people might be watching the Champions League, we have a pretty interesting clash tonight in the Premier League between Southampton and Arsenal. Arsenal are just a shade of odds against at the time of writing, with the match odds market; Southampton 3.95, Arsenal 2.04 and the draw is 3.85.
Arsenal’s poor run of late has been well documented, and it remains to be seen what will happen to Arsene Wenger at the end of the season. Under the radar though, Southampton are having a poor finish to the season and have now only won once in their last five games, while in their last six games at home – they’ve also only won once. They have came up against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City recently – but bar the 0-0 draw against Liverpool, a side they have a good record against, they’ve leaked four goals against Chelsea and three here against Manchester City.
Given Southampton’s lack of spark recently, this is a decent chance for three points for Arsenal. However, they’ve lost five of their last six away from home which has to be a concern, granted that they’ve played three top sides in that run. They were impressive against United at home at the weekend when winning 2-0, but maybe 2.04 is just a shade short here.
The bet we like is under 2.5 goals at 2.34 which looks a very big price. Southampton have been struggling for goals and don’t tend to score many anyway, while Arsenal’s away form may see a cagey start to the game. We feel that Arsenal can win, but it will be close and under 2.5 goals appeals more than the Arsenal win at 2.34. It’s also worth checking the prices of an Arsenal 1-0 and 2-0 win in the correct score market closer to kick off.
