PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY: We preview Sunday’s Premier League games with recommended BETDAQ bets and extended stats. It’s Chelsea v Watford at 2pm, Huddersfield v Man U at 2pm and Arsenal v Brighton at 4.30pm.
CHELSEA V WATFORD
2pm What a massive day in the race for a Top Four Finish in the Premier League! Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are all in action in very winnable games; and none of them have been reliable lately! We should have plenty of fun in the markets today. We kick things off with Chelsea hosting Watford after their Europa League away tie on Thursday night. It would be fair to say that Watford are probably already preparing for the FA Cup Final given their position in the table; however an away game against a side like Chelsea is good prep for that and we expect a good performance. Chelsea have been really unreliable in recent weeks and were only able to draw with Burnley in their last home game – and they were gifted a goal by David De Gea at Old Trafford last weekend.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Chelsea 1.42, Watford 9.2 and the draw is 5.3. We feel that Chelsea are at least ten ticks too short here at 1.42 and we’re very happy to lay that price from a value point of view. Watford have been very solid this season and it’s not a surprise to see them in the FA Cup Final. Chelsea are under immense pressure in the race for a Top Four spot and with the Europa League commitments from Thursday night too we fancy a surprise result here.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Chelsea at 1.42.

MATCH STATS
- Chelsea are unbeaten in 11 home matches against Watford in all competitions (W7 D4 L0) since a 1-5 defeat on the final day of the 1985-86 season.
- Watford have taken just one point from their five away Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge against Chelsea (W0 D1 L4), drawing 2-2 on Boxing Day in 2015.
- Since their return to the Premier League in 2015, Watford have scored more Premier League goals against Chelsea than they have vs any other side (13). They’ve also scored more goals at Stamford Bridge (7) than any other visiting side over the past four seasons.
- Chelsea haven’t lost their last home league game of the season since the 2001-02 campaign (1-3 vs Aston Villa), with the Blues winning 10 and drawing six since then.
- Chelsea are winless in three Premier League games (D2 L1) – the Blues last went four without a win in May 2016 under Guus Hiddink.
- Watford are looking to win consecutive away league games for the first time since a run of three in September 2017.
- Watford have won away against Crystal Palace and West Ham in the Premier League this season – they’ve never won three matches in London in a single top-flight season before.
- Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has had a hand in four goals in his last three Premier League appearances against Watford (3 goals, 1 assist), netting each of the Blues’ last three goals against the Hornets.
- Chelsea named a starting XI without an Englishman against Man Utd, the 19 th time they’ve done so in the Premier League this season – more than any other team. The only team to name more non-English starting XIs in a season are Arsenal (33 in 2006-07, 27 in 2007-08 and 20 in 2008-09).
- Gerard Deulofeu has been directly involved in seven of Watford’s last nine away goals in the Premier League, with the Spaniard scoring six and assisting one.
HUDDERSFIELD V MANCHESTER UNITED
2pm Huddersfield, unlike Fulham, seem to have given up on their season. If they lose today they will equal the record of most losses by a side in the Premier League and if we’re being honest, it’s very hard to see them not losing. Manchester United may come here in very poor form; but they have had to play the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks – they are now playing a side who have lost 28 games this season and are conceding goals for fun. United may be in bad form; but they can still outclass this Huddersfield side.
It’s no surprise to see Manchester United heavy odds on favourites with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Huddersfield 11.5, Manchester United 1.34 and the draw is 5.9. Solskjaer would dearly love Marcus Rashford to come back into form although it’s very unlikely that United can finish in the Top Four now – all they can do is win and hope the others lose their final two games. We expect Huddersfield to continue to struggle and United to run them over; we like the -1.5 goals handicap at 1.99.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Manchester United -1.5 goals to beat Huddersfield at 1.99.

MATCH STATS
- Huddersfield have only won one of their last 13 top-flight meetings with Man Utd (D3 L9), though it was in this exact fixture last season (2-1).
- Manchester United have found the net at least once in their last 12 top-flight meetings with Huddersfield (W9 D2 L1) since a 0-0 draw in October 1953.
- Huddersfield have lost 28 Premier League games this season – only Ipswich in 1994-95, Sunderland in 2005-06 and Derby in 2007-08 have ever lost more in a single campaign (all 29).
- Huddersfield have lost 14 home Premier League games this season – only two teams in top-flight history have ever lost more in a single season; Blackpool in 1966-67 and Stoke in 1984-85 (both 15).
- Manchester United are winless in their last four games in all competitions (D1 L3), last having a longer run without a win in December 2015 under Louis van Gaal (8 games).
- Manchester United haven’t won their last away league game of the season since the 2011-12 campaign (1-0 at Sunderland), drawing five and losing one since then.
- Manchester United haven’t lost four consecutive away league games since a run of six in March 1981, while they haven’t lost six in a row on the road in all competitions since February 1974, during the campaign they were last relegated from the top-flight.
- Huddersfield have scored just nine home league goals this season. In top-flight history, no side has ever failed to reach double figures for home goals in a single campaign.
- Man Utd’s Romelu Lukaku has scored 12 Premier League goals this season – the most of any player who’s yet to provide an assist in the competition this term.
- After netting six goals in eight Premier League appearances when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over in December, Marcus Rashford has scored just one in his last nine for Manchester United.
ARSENAL V BRIGHTON
4.30pm Of all the teams in the Top Six who have fluffed their lines in the race for a Top Four finish – Arsenal have been the most disappointing. They arrive into this fixture having lost their last three Premier League games against Leicester, Wolves and Crystal Palace. Not only did they lose those fixtures but they have shopped three goals in each game – talk about finishing the season in an ambulance! The good news for Arsenal fans though is Brighton have been woeful in 2019 and they haven’t won in their last seven. With home advantage; Arsenal should get back to winning ways.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Arsenal 1.42, Brighton 9.4 and the draw is 5.0. Arsenal look absolutely massive at 1.42; even allowing for them losing their last three league games coming into this. Brighton have been woeful this season and they have lost all of their 11 games against the Big Six this season while conceding 23 goals and only scoring two. This is just the type of game that Arsenal dominate and we expect them to win easily – we can’t get away from the 1.42 which looks ten ticks too big.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Arsenal to beat Brighton at 1.42.
